Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Fold in the broken Oreo chunks and chocolate chips (if using).
For best results, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is still soft.
Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra chewiness, let the dough rest in the refrigerator overnight before baking.
